Like most translators, you will get fairly accurate translations, but they may not match the easy, casual speech of the native speaker. Traveling is part of everyone's life today. And I don't mean just domestic travel. More often that not, your business will take you overseas. If not that, then vacation plans whether by cruise or plane will. It's exciting though to sample the worlds of others and to absorb their culture. What needs to be dealt with here though is the language barrier. You can use Vocre to take care of that small problem as it translates right there on the spot so that whatever you want to say is instantly spoken in the destination language right when you need it.

Vocre lets you set your native and target languages first of all. Also, you may set your speaker to male or female. Then you speak into the mic with your question or comment, rotate the phone and it puts out your words in the language chosen as your target one. Tap the button to reverse the languages, and the recipient of your speech can then answer you back. As you can imagine, you then flip the phone again to hear the translation in your native tongue.

This all seems easy enough, and is honestly a great attempt at solving language barriers between travelers. However, a few fixes are needed. You have to flip the phone a specific way to enable the translation. This takes some wrist flexibility and patience till you get it down pat. Additionally, you are given a specific amount of credits which when used up, you would need to replenish in order to continue using the app. Top in App purchases allow you to purchase additional credits so that is easy enough, but could become expensive.

Considering the app is free, I would definitely give it a try to see how well you adapt to it. With Vocre, you are essentially able to talk in any language. It is kind of neat to say something, flip the phone and hear it repeated in another language (although not in your voice). Take Vocre on your travels with you, or use if it a non-native speaking business client with whom you must interact comes into town. You'll be pleased you had a handy translator in your pocket!

We should never be content with only knowing one language. This happens to be the case very often in the United States, whereas in Europe or other countries you will find people being multi-lingual. Learning Chinese has now become a very big item, and is even featured on TV during the day for those who can watch. Additionally, it is featured online as high-school credit. I regret Chinese is one language I have not yet tackled, so was quite excited to see the app Word Tracer-Learn Chinese!

Being able to speak and understand a language is one thing. However, writing the symbols and phrases is totally another! When you learn certain languages, you must learn the writing also to be efficient. Word Tracer-Learn Chinese provides an easy and enjoyable way to learn Chinese characters by letting you trace 1,500 Chinese characters. Not only that, but you are also given the opportunity to write common phrases so you can actually make sense of those characters. This is much like how it was learning to write as a Kindergartner. I remember using big, tracing pads where I would move my pencil in the order designated on the lines to form letters. Eventually, after practicing over and over, I was able to write words with those letters!

You can use Word Tracer-Learn Chinese in two modes which are Practice Mode when you trace the letters, and Test Mode when you must test yourself afterwards to trace the letters correctly. Word Tracer-Learn Chinese uses an intelligent game engine which provides an enjoyable, precise and educational experience for all ages. Every character uses pinyin (which is the official system to transcribe Chinese characters into the Roman alphabet), audio recording, English meaning and common usages. Here are some of the comprehensive tools and features of this excellent Chinese writing educational iPad app:

- Practice Mode: Learn new characters or practice old ones

The symbol will be beautifully displayed in sharp color on your large iPad screen where you can easily trace it with your finger following the order of the numbers. The word meaning is listed also underneath.

If you tap the arrow next to the definition, a box will pop up with Detailed Info of phrases using that character. Tap the large character in this box, and you will hear the spoken sound. At the bottom of the screen are orange buttons which do the following: hide or display options, erase your lines so you can practice the symbol again, remove the numbers so you can write by memory, auto advance the pages of practice symbols, toggle the sound off and on, and hear the word/symbol spoken.

At any time, return to the 2 Modes screen, or to the list of all symbols by tapping the boxes on the top of the screen. Use handy swipe gestures on the list of Characters screen to hear the sound or get Detailed Info. I was impressed by all the helpful details and language tools incorporated into this app which worked smoothly and well. Let me say that you are being entertained and given a sense of pride as you work your way through the Chinese characters. I definitely recommend this app for all students and lovers of the Chinese language for its simplicity of use and thorough approach to learning.

On seeing this West Indian dialect app today, I knew that I had to bring its good humor to your attention. It's not an app with lots of content, bells and whistles, or high-powered gameplay. But it's pure fun to me with its hilarious rendition of Jamaican accents when transforming regular Anglo words or phrases into full-blown Jamaican dialect. You see I grew up in Jamaica, so I will always be a little bit homesick for that country and its friendly island folks. Hearing the native phrases that are actually quite accurate brings back the good old days to me! Some of the witty and comedic features of iKnow Jamaican: Clean are as follows:

-Over 100 original phrases (and growing)…that’s right, over 100
-Impress your friends using the translator, and play pranks on them using the soundboard

You know, it's not as though Jamaican is a foreign language! In fact, this beautiful island was owned by the British until 1962. Still, its warm and outgoing natives developed their own special patois which is just a twist on regular English words. It's quite funny going through all the phrases and hearing the Jamaican version, which again I will say is very accurate.

When you tap the Sound button of iKnow Jamaican: Clean , you will only see Jamaican heads which bobble as they speak their friendly phrases. The Soundboard lets you move phrases in the order you wish to make a non-stop, verifiable, Jamaican conversation! You will probably be in stitches as you make your way through this app, particularly if you've ever visited the islands and recognize some of the expressions. Whether or not you've visited this lovely island nation, you really must transform your speech into that of a true Jamaican with this entertaining and hilarious app.
