Many people enjoy watching videos even more than watching TV shows. Some of my co-workers actually spend a good part of the day covertly watching online videos and flipping the work screen as soon as the boss goes by! (Know anyone like that?) Anyway, I suppose it helps to decrease stress and exercise the mind a bit to move it around other topics than the routine ones you can do blindfolded on a daily basis.

With Squrl, you are able to compile all your favorite video subscriptions in one neat pile so that you don't have to switch between video sites to catch up on the latest stuff on each. You can also watch live streaming TV for some news sources and find amusing stuff to keep your day moving along. Expect to find the following features in this universal iPhone and iPad video viewing app:

● Watch videos from your YouTube, Netflix and Hulu+ subscriptions in one place.
● Watch videos posted by your Facebook friends and favorite Twitter personalities.
● Watch live streaming TV from Huffington Post, Bloomberg TV, This Week in Tech, and more.
● Find hot web videos from Gangnam Style remixes to new iPhone unboxings in Squrl’s ‘What’s Hot’ channel.
● Send favorite videos to your friends on Squrl, Facebook, Twitter, or via email.

Squrl lets you search through a number of live streaming TV channels and sites, like Huffington Post Live, Bloomberg, and others while efficiently allowing navigation through your videos for your enjoyment. Squrl utilizes auto-complete and a search history. Additionally, users now are provided with suggestions when searching based on popular video search strings Discover awesome videos in a variety of categories, and organize them for your convenience. Share your fave videos on Facebook, Twitter, Squrl or by email because when you find a good one, you just have to share its impact (comical or otherwise) with friends. Simplicity, clean design and ease of use are the hallmarks of Squrl Video Search.

COOL CONCLUSION: Sqrl Video Search aggregates your video subscriptions in one tidy package, nicely organizes your favorite videos and sends them out to be shared with friends!

Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island

Developer Quote: "Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island is an exciting adventure story that's a twist on the "choose your own adventure" format...thousands of ways to find the treasure and lots of hidden gold to discover in this exciting new cinematic approach to the book app."

- COST:  $1.99 cents   - APP STORE STARS:  4
- Categories:  Action, Adventure, Books, Education, Elementary School, Entertainment, Games, Native

There's nothing better to me than reading an exciting book with lots of mystery and intrigue involved. Did you know the same holds true for kids? They love a good adventure and searching for hidden items much like a scavenger hunt. Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island is a wonderful interactive story to grab kids' attention, and get them "digging" for gold in an extraordinary treasure hunt designed just for them! Children 5 years and up will be totally engrossed taking part in this lovely story.

Let me first explain that Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island is adapted from an award winning children’s book by Karen Robertson. The actual book is unique in that not only is it filled with excitement, but it comes with little treasure chests of objects with which the kids interact as they read. There are different Treasure Kai books with a similar theme that have children using all their senses and imagination to unearth hidden mysteries and treasures. Turning this excellent physical book into an electronic one is a true accomplishment as it mirrors the original so closely. Yet the app is so much more thrilling with music, sound and interaction. In this particular story, lost gold treasure is eagerly sought by little Kai. Your children will be totally absorbed when embarking upon the trail of gold with lots of exciting animations, surprises and sound effects.

Some of the many engaging features of this children's interactive iPad, iPhone book app are as follows:

- Award-winning, original treasure hunt adventure story
- Pop up and touch screen sounds and animations to discover
- Hidden gold coins to treasure hunt for
- Cinematic sound effects and dramatic original score
- Stunning illustrations by an award winning illustrator
- Read-to-me or self-read options
- You control the text box size and placement

Your story starts off by introducing Kai, his friend Kate and where they live. You get a great feel for Kai's adventurous personality here. One night as he is going to sleep, Kai begins to dream and finds himself rowing out to Shark Island where the action begins. In the story, Kai will explore jungles, castles and pyramids and find a treasure chest of sparkling jewels. Interactivity is the key that keeps kids turning the pages, and thirsting after more adventure and knowledge. They will find plenty of all these things in Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island.

One of the cool things you can do while progressing through the app is move reading text boxes around and enlarge them as necessary. My special delight is turning on and off Kai's night table lamp which is just a small example of great attention paid to details throughout. Perfectly suited adventure sound tracks add intrigue to the story. To me it almost seems that Kai is a miniature Indiana Jones in this exciting book where he must escape mazes and pass by spooky skeletons and other daunting obstacles. You'll find bats, snakes and native warriors. But in the end, finding the treasure box of jewels makes it all worthwhile! Tap the end page to start this wondrous adventure all over again!

This book has a little bit of everything in it to absorb all your senses: beautiful graphics, rhymes that give you hints on solving the puzzles, awesome sound effects, action and adventure in other mysterious worlds. The feeling of accomplishment on finding the gold is wonderful. After all, who wouldn't enjoy unearthing a chest of gold coins and sparkling jewels after a well-thought out, exciting journey to get there? Parents and children alike will be as spell-bound as I was on reading this glorious tale.

COOL CONCLUSION: "Enjoy the suspense and excitement of treasure hunting in Treasure Kai and the Lost Gold of Shark Island where imagination and adventure spring to life!"

CheckTip

Developer Quote: "Tired of pulling out your calculator to calculate the tip at a restaurant? Then try CheckTip!"

Many of us are aware that there are a good amount of tip calculator apps out there. But make room for a totally unique and new one. Stop and take a good look at the workings of this particular item! CheckTip is unlike the other tipping apps and is magically simple to use.

Here's the difference - you don't have to manually enter your restaurant bill amount into the app. CheckTip scans it in for you. Once scanned, it immediately supplies a tip and total amount! That's because this app uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Technology to get the required bill information and then calculate your tip and final bill. All in seconds! It's that clever and simple, and you can't help but admire its sheer genius. In a nutshell, here are the the features of this iPhone tip calculation utility app are as follows:

- Take a photo of your check while putting the bill amount in the red box
- Move the slider to adjust tip percentage
- Your tip and total percentages are displayed on the check

As explained above, hold your phone over the bill, and make sure the bill amount is centered in the red box, then tap the camera icon. The Optical Character Recognition will go to work and display the appropriate tip and total bill based on the input of that amount. The slider is set by default to 15%, and that is where I leave it. However, you can adjust it at any time to reflect your personal tipping preferences.

If you want to adjust where the tip and total amounts are displayed, simply drag them to the lines specified on the standard credit card bill. Like to keep track of your eating out expenses? No problem, just tap the green check mark to save the bill to your photo album. Let's count the taps it took for me to figure the tip on my dinner tonight.... Hmmm, only 1! No brain power required, no manual input. CheckTip certainly revolutionizes paying your bill utilizing OCR thus adding a touch of magic!

COOL CONCLUSION: Instantly calculate the tip on your bills while eating out by using CheckTip to scan the bill, then provide a tip and final total amount! One tap is all it takes!
