GazziliShapes

Developer Quote: "GazziliShapes is an innovative, fun new App that teaches Preschoolers challenging shape-related concepts in a kid-friendly way!"

- COST: $1.99     - APP STORE STARS: 4
- Categories: Education, Entertainment, Games, Native, Preschool, Universal

If you want your kids to take great strides in their education, solid learning has to take place from a very early age. We can no longer be content to sit back and wait till Kindergarten teachers train our kids. Parents have to take responsibility from early on to pave the way using engaging and innovative educational techniques. GazziliShapes is an app that provides age appropriate and charming interaction for preschoolers along with a good measure of knowledge, and is designed to aid parents teach their young ones.

This preschool app opens to adorable kiddie laughter and colorful objects from which your child will learn shapes on the main screen, including a Pizza, Cookie, Necklace, Circus, Scuba Diving, and Spaceship, for a total of 6 items. The first unlocked level is the easiest and is the Pizza. From there on, your child will unlock the other levels one at a time while the difficulty level increases slightly for each. Lots of encouragement and soft, happy music play in the background to enhance your child's enjoyment of this educational game. Some of the fun features of this preschool general education iPhone app are as follows:

- 6 engaging, exciting activities that get progressively more challenging.

- Successful completion of each level means seeing a portion of the ‘GazziliFunPage’ come to life.

- Child interacts with the app to build a deep understanding of shape-related concepts.

- Delightful, interactive animations, music, sound-effects, and surprise features.

- Improvement of hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as children gain proficiency with tablet hardware.

Start out this delightful adventure by tapping the Pizza button. A little boy is waiting for his pizza, and you must help him by answering shape-related questions correctly in order to get it delivered. Tap various shapes, and as you answer correctly, you will see the corresponding outlines fill with color at the bottom of your screen. It's such fun to see all the pizza eaten up at the end as your visual reward! A re-count of all the shapes you have found is finally given to sum up the activity. My favorite part then is the surprise game in which you slide the shape into the correct background outline. At this point, the next game object is unlocked and you can proceed with that activity.

Tap the Menu button at top right of the screen to view My Games, Settings, Share and Info. Settings include toggling the following items: Sound FX, Music, Instructions and Twitter. One neat way to enjoy GazziliShapes in bright, beautiful color also is to use the AirPlay Mirroring function included in iOS 5! Rewarding kids with a special task to identify a shape after "work" activities is something to look forward to throughout the app! Plus, as an added bonus, kids can watch the special image come alive on the Gazzili Fun Page at the end of their play.

What makes this childhood app especially appealing to parents is the dual-curriculum approach it contains in teaching life lessons and technology at the same time. Additionally, the app received major input from experts at The Dalton School to maximize the effectiveness of its educational content and appeal to little ones. The adorable kiddie graphics suitable for the preschool age captures the imagination of children. Throw in some happy music and fun sounds throughout, and your child will not want to stop playing this lovely multi-sensory preschool app!

COOL CONCLUSION: "Preschoolers will love the interaction, gentle encouragement and age-appropriate challenges presented in GazziliShapes, an intriguing, educational game!"

Singing Santa

Developer Quote: "Singing Santa listens to what you say, and sings it back in his voice, while dancing to the beat of your favorite holiday tunes."

- COST: Free    - APP STORE STARS: 3-1/2

Looking to play Santa this Christmas to your family and friends? You don't have to gain weight, rent a suit or go shopping for a gazillion gifts! Try using Singing Santa instead to sing Christmas carols in your voice and then emailing the dancing, singing guy in red with your greeting to your friends!

Don't worry about being a great singer! Simply speak the words you want Santa to say, and he will put it in song to the melody of many traditional Christmas carols with a dose of beat plus an attitude thrown in for good measure. But that's not all Santa does! When you poke (or tap) him, he moves his arms, legs and body in all directions along with a funny sound or two to get you laughing!

So what tunes are available to you with this holiday Santa iPhone app? At the present time, there are only two, free song melodies which are Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls. Other than that, you can purchase other popular Christmas carols in app such as:

Joy to the World
12 Days of Christmas
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
We Wish You A Merry Christmas
Jingle Bellz (Hip Hop)
Oh Christmas Tree
Silent Night
O Come All Ye Faithful

When you open Singing Santa, you will see the chubby, red man center stage holding a mic. There is a question mark in the top right of the display. Tap this help button to get instructions on how to record your songs, make Santa move, create a video and send a greeting. Okay, now tap the Christmas ornament at the end of the display to get a list of the songs available for Santa. You can also purchase new Dance Moves and New Postcards here.

This year send unusual holiday sentiments to those you care about. You can easily do this by saving a video of Santa singing and dancing to your photo album, then emailing your unusual but delightful greeting. If you want to share even more socially, go ahead and post your recording on Twitter. Additionally, you can send a postcard of Santa in a funny pose as an alternative. The cheery, quirky Singing Santa will definitely be a hit amongst Christmas greetings this season!

COOL CONCLUSION: "Enchant and entertain your friends with a novel Christmas greeting of Singing Santa crooning your special holiday cheer while dancing along in a funky fashion!"

Having a 30-minute downtime break yesterday, I decided it was time to have fun and find some new games. One of those was Patchworkz. Puzzle lovers: you are going to be using some real brain power as you fit the offered puzzle pieces into the colorful, gorgeous backgrounds. Enjoy a patchwork themed puzzle in designs of wood, fabric, glass and more. Think you're a genius? Well, go at it then in Fever Mode and compare your score in Game Center. Some of the intriguing features of this iPhone puzzle game app are as follows:

•   Charming interface!
• ✓Over 150 high resolution levels featuring unique and original pieces of art
• ✓7 stunning puzzle packs to master and hidden content begging to be found
• ✓Marvel at designs made from wood, fabric, stone, metal, paper, and glass
• ✓Intuitive scoring system awards you for being patient and precise
• ✓Addictive lightning-quick game play
•   Landscape orientation
•   Fever mode - timed play

Check out the Settings first of all, and marvel at the beautiful, engraved options such as Music and Sound toggles, How to Play, Left Handed, Level Select and Main Menu buttons. Basically to play, you drag a puzzle piece from the side tray and place it where you think it belongs on the main game board. If you become stuck, don't worry, just tap the Hint (question mark) button. Pause the game at any time by tapping the Settings (gear wheel) button. Unlock challenges and collect stars to gain new content. Fever Mode puts the pressure on as you clear as many levels as possible before the timer runs out. (I prefer the original "take your time" mode, however!) With Patchworkz, you can not help but admire the artistic design of the puzzles presented as well as enjoy the game equally.

GazziliWords

Developer Quote: "Watch GazziliWords challenge Preschoolers with important words that can otherwise be difficult to define and describe—like fingerprint, internet, and blood—in a fun, kid-friendly way!"

- COST: Free    - APP STORE STARS: 4 Stars
- Categories: Education, Entertainment, Games, Native, Preschool, Universal

We get so caught up in our daily work and activities that it's often easy to neglect our children's education. However, these days with our modern technology, kids can play educational games that make the most of their free moments. This allows parents to do the tasks they must accomplish while seeing their little ones happily engaged in learning to read and write. With the upcoming holidays, perhaps the best friend a parent could have is a fun, learning app such as GazziliWords.

This enchanting, educational app brings words and concepts to life in an interactive way that's engineered to captivate a child's attention. Some of the exceptional learning features of this preschool vocabulary education iPhone app are as follows:

- 21 interactive read-along and play-along learning activities available

- Child selects a word, which is then described in the GazziliWords style

- Child interacts with the app to build a deep understanding of each word’s definition

- Delightful interactive animations, music, sound-effects, and surprise features

- ‘Read To Me’ mode to hear definition and story read aloud

- Try the first 3 GazziliWords for Free!

The unique approach to GazziliWords is demonstrated in its use of teaching many words which define morals and concepts. Think of the benefits of your preschooler understanding abstract concepts such as patience, rainbows, dreams, healthy, balance and other words that require a little more reflection. To me, this app portrays a threefold curriculum as learning is based on not just definitions, but on true meanings behind each word. Additionally, as your child navigates his way through the app, a love and knowledge of technology comes into play. GazziliWords provides you with 3 words to get your child engaged in learning abstract and concrete words - (Fingerprint, Rainbow, and Balance). These words will whet your child's appetite for more exciting and colorful adventures which is why you are also able to purchase in-app additional word packs for 99 cents each.

Check out Settings to adjust toggle options such as: Read To Me, Sound FX, Music, Instructions and Twitter. Open your screen to soft music and animated figures. As your little one taps a word on the display, adorable explanations and games come into play. An example is offered as to the word's meaning while afterwards you are displayed an animated activity page further describing the word. For example, make little fingerprints on your screen to demonstrate the word, Fingerprint. Or, wipe the rain away in order for the Rainbow to appear to understand that word! The lovely graphics suitable for the preschool age intrigues the senses of children. Add to that some lively music and appropriate, matching sounds and you've got yourself a winning preschool app with superb multi-sensory action! Tap the arrow at the end of the display to move from one word to another.

A strong vocabulary is the basis of a solid learning foundation and more effective communication between family members. Parents, you should also know that this app has been carefully created with early-childhood, educational experts from leading universities to ensure its valuable educational benefits to your child. In fact, GazziliWords is the brand, new re-make of the Webby-nominated children's educational app, GoodieWords. I recommend that you permit your child's natural curiosity and intellect to take on the innovative vocabulary challenges of GazziliWords!

COOL CONCLUSION: "Entrust your preschooler's education to GazziliWords, the innovative, multi-focus app that teaches concepts, education and technology simultaneously."
