Remember we used to rely faithfully on Google Maps to find our way around, then it disappeared from the recent iOS? Personally, I never had problems with this navigation app, but many others did. Consequently, the app has been revamped and newly placed again on the App Store. This new Google Maps has been working very well for most folks. I'm a firm believer in Google products and have promptly placed the app back on my phone.

Google Maps will help you find your way around town and out of town too, has voice navigation with turn-by-turn directions, street view and other helpful features. Not only that, but you can also use it to discover restaurants, shopping other entertainment and other important places. The 360 degree panorama view is really a nice touch. There are definitely more features than in the previous app, and as mentioned, the turn-by-turn voice directions are new and a huge bonus! The map is simple to use, but contains a few not easily noticeable features. For starters, just tap on the icon with two arrows in the bottom left of your display while in street view to pan around the location. Another cool feature is being able to see the special menu that toggles traffic, public transit, and satellite map views by swiping from right to left with two fingers.

Give Google Maps a prominent place on your display, and make sure you get to all your holiday parties and festivities on time using excellent directions!

COOL CONCLUSION: Google Maps is back with a stronger, more feature laden iPhone app with voice guidance that will get you where you need, and provide great entertainment and dining suggestions as well.

We know now that with iOS 6 to be released on September 19th, there will no longer be a native YouTube icon on your device. There is no need as Google has created its own YouTube app which does a much better job than the old native app for many reasons. Sharing to social networks will be possible, and you'll be able to voice search your preferred videos. Just sign in as usual to access your information, lists and favorites. Some of the features included in Google's YouTube music and video app are:

- Enjoy YouTube’s vast video catalog, including official music videos
- Find videos and channels more easily with voice search and query autocomplete
- Subscribe to channels and instantly access your subscriptions with the channel guide UI
- Read comments, browse related videos, enable subtitles and more - all while watching

On opening the app, you will see a list of recommended videos (filling the screen nicely) with 2 per page which continues to scroll down. Search for your videos using the Search button on the top of the display. This will then produce the mic where you will speak your search terms. This is so much more preferable to typing which can be a drag and slower. The interface is much like Facebook where the main screen rolls to the right, away from the sidebar. In the sidebar, adjust your Settings, Add Channels, and enjoy the offerings of a host of categories From YouTube. This makes the YouTube videos nicely organized so you can readily find new and exciting clips to enjoy. Definitely, I am enjoying this new and polished Google YouTube app quite a bit more than the old, native iPhone app.

COOL CONCLUSION: Enjoy discovering and watching your old favorites plus new videos in all categories and genres on Google's new and improved YouTube app which makes sharing, searching and viewing a pleasure.

As we speak, I am using Chrome on my computer. I switched to Chrome a while ago from Firefox as there were far too many crashes for my comfort with that other browser, and I was losing vast amounts of time in restarting my browser. I have not regretted my decision for many reasons. Chrome loads pages fast, is reliable and doesn't waste time or space on frilly, unnecessary stuff.

Okay, but back to our app! The debut of Chrome is a great start in what will only become even more efficient in the future. It is a sharp, clean and rapid browser with the all-important incognito surfing option! I present to you here, the features of Google's Chrome browser for iPhone and iPad:

• Sign in to Chrome to sync your open tabs, bookmarks, passwords, and omnibox data from your computer to your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. Pick up right where you left off.

First things first, you need to sign in to with your computer, so you have your personalized settings with you at all times. This is such a great help to sync tabs, bookmarks, passwords and more. Flipping through tabs is a fun experience and a nice bit of play with this browser, as all you have to do is use gestures to switch between tabs. Yes, you can open an unlimited amount tabs! There is also one address and search box to make things clean and simple. Chrome is intuitive, smooth, fast and an awesome Safari alternative. Honestly, though, you need to try it for yourself!

When your parents taught you how to share your toys, books and snacks as a child, you may have been a bit unwilling at first, but then learned the value of sharing. As adults, we share different things. Thanks to technology, we now share news of family and friends, photos and videos electronically! We've come a long way baby! What a relief not to write lengthy letters, or to have photos or videos physically created to mail out with those lengthy letters when we keep in touch.

Streamified, a networking app which wears many hats, pulls together all your social networking streams into a chronological, single, clean, sharp page that is a pleasure to read! However, if this is information overload for you, just tap on the header at the top of the page and Choose A Stream, one at a time. You may also Search for posts containing specific terms to refine your quantity of reading.

Pleasant surprises when exploring an app always makes my day. Streamified has so many functions. Sure you can read your social networking feeds, but you can also share fun links, update your status, edit photos with a clever editor, and re-tweet as you wish! There's a host of smart features that I'd like to tell you about, but I'll start with my favorites.

Here's what pleases me the most - being able to include my Facebook pages, and not just my own personal profile page in my Streamified reading list. I've found this feature not available in many apps, but it's important that I check on these pages daily. Along those lines, the same helpful feature applies to Twitter. Check on the streams you choose, whether Timeline, Mentions, or your news lists. Just toggle ON the lists you want to view. Another clever, little feature I enjoy is the mini clock that appears on each post as you scroll through your feed so you can see exactly when the news item was posted.


More goodies? Bookmarking posts - a wonderful way to remind yourself of the really good pics, videos or posts you've encountered as you scroll through your feed. In the top, center header is where you will find the Bookmarked icon from which you can view over and again those cool items you had previously marked. You can also View User Profile of whomever posted that special item, or Mute further posts from that user appearing in your feed.

Streamified is a comprehensive universal iphone, ipad social networking, interactive app. Let me tell you about the photo editor. When you add a photo from your camera or photo album, you get a menu loaded with adjustments to make your picture perfect! You can tap on Color, Contrast, Crop, Exposure, Saturation, Sepia, Vignette and more to easily fine tune your image. See a pic that floats your boat? Tap on it, then select Share Image, Save Image or Copy URL to do with it as you will.


Let me ask you this? Do you actually get to read through the feeds on your Google Reader every day? If not, here's another great feature built into Streamified. Your feeds can be read, and multimedia easily viewed right there on the spot! Additionally, if you are a Pinterest fan as I am, you can check off the categories in which you are interested, then view new posts which will also appear on your feed! Oh, and by the way, Streamified also offers an extension for your Chrome web browser to round out your user experience.

So you get the picture! Streamified simplifies your social networking and news reading experience so well, you may never open individual apps for all your networks again! Why bother when you get a complete stream of news and media allowing superb flexibility all in one neat, universal app?

Schemer is a mobile app that integrates with your Google Plus account to create and share your schemes and plans, anything from going to the beach on your day off to mixing all your leftovers into one big, weird feast for your friends. Everyone is proud of their photo collection. It may contain changes to family such as a wedding, a new mom's growing tummy, or friends, homes, pets - you name it! Some of us keep photo album collections on Flickr, Picasa, Google+, etc. Others upload videos documenting fun occasions in our lives to YouTube. I love the ability to capture my family's day-to-day antics because I didn't own a camera till about 18 years of age, and a video camera didn't come my way till I was 26 years old! Consequently, I missed a lot in capturing the happiest moments that occurred in those years.

Fast forward to 2011 - the world's knowledge is changing drastically and recording life's precious moments has become a lot simpler with technology, especially using our iDevices. I found the Pro-Share app to be a remarkably convenient, useful and time-saving means to getting my photos and videos on the sites that host these memorable collections. Pro-Share uploads your stuff to so many sites including Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, Picasa/Google+ and Twitter. It does so much more than simply upload quickly, however. You may edit your photos with text, enhance them, use photo effects, crop, etc. before you send them off to your web photo albums. I was very much impressed with all this social networking and photography app had to offer. Several features are listed below to whet your photographic appetite:

Using Pro-Share is wonderfully easy, and there's a simple tutorial you can read prior to, or during, your use of the app when you tap the "?" in the top left corner of your display. Open the app and you have the choice to work with Photos or Videos, view the tutorial or snap a new picture, all on the top of your display. You will see your photo collection here. (Note: this app like every other in the App Store is in the process of upgrading to iOS 5. Thus there may be one or two kinks until the next update. So at this point, click on Camera Roll-not All or Recent-to avoid the app closing out on you. This is only a temporary glitch and Camera Roll is where you want to begin working anyway!) The bottom of your screen holds 3 buttons: Albums, Queue and Settings. The Queue button allows you to cancel pictures you may have sent there to upload while the Settings button gives you options such as logging in to your social networks Services, Upload Quality, Queue and Help Tips.



Select your preferred photo, then either tap and hold to view the image in full or tap to immediately upload to your chosen network. Alternately, the Close Up button at the bottom of your screen will give you a full display of your photo. Tap the "i" button at the bottom right of screen to add text, then tap it again to have the comment inserted If you want to jazz up your photo, choose from among several options. The first button lets you add all sorts of effects to your pic if you want (a few of which are Sepia, Grayscale, Thermal, Snow Fuzz, Blur), the scissors lets you crop your photo using pinch and zoom and the rotate button rotates 360 degrees. Now go ahead and save your image to the device's photo album and then choose where to send it: Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Picasa/Google+, upload by Bluetooth or WiFi.

There are many other features to Pro-Share such as scroll through cover flow so you don't have to constantly go back to your camera roll to select a pic. There are tips that alternate on the bottom of your screen which I found to be helpful, but you are free to turn off this option in the Settings. You can spend a great deal of time exploring this app and sending out your photos whenever and wherever you want with only a few clicks, and as easily as counting 1, 2, 3! Life is so much simpler when you have the right innovative tools with which to work, and Pro-Share is just the clever app that fits the bill!

You are heading out to a friend's house for dinner. You have the directions from Google Maps, but you would like to know what to expect when you reach the actual neighborhood. Are you in the right place? What exactly does the house look like so you'll recognize it when you drive up?

Solution!
Street View helps solve this little dilemma. Did you know that when you have a complete address in your Contacts, if you tap on it, the name of the Contact will pop up along with a little orange circle with a peg man in it. Tap on the man, and you will be instantly shown the neighborhood with the exact house pinpointed of the friend whom you are going to visit. It's actually amazing to see the house, car and entire neighborhood.

Okay, don't panic. There are a few privacy issues Google has addressed here. First off, they have blurred the license plates of cars, as well as included a Report button if you don't want your home shown. You can rotate your view, and actually walk the street by tapping on the white arrows superimposed on the street with the street name. You can also use this feature directly in Google Maps. Street View is not live, and information probably has been gathered within the past 6 months. So as a friend demonstrated to me, Street View lives right in your Contacts, and not just in the main Google Maps icon!
