Lingo of the Day: rollover - A technique when using JavaScript, allows for an alternate image to be displayed when the mouse rolls over a specific line of text or graphic on the Web page. The "rollover" typically displays a copyright notice on top of the image. If the user attempts to capture the image using the right click "save image as" option, the alternate image (such as the copyright) is captured instead. The term rollover was created to recognize that there is a little ball in your mouse that you roll on a surface.

OPEN AND DOWNLOAD FILES • Easily open web files with extensions .epub, .pdf, .ppt, .doc, rtf, .avi, .key, .xls, .zip, .rar, .pages, .numbers in your other installed Apps like iBooks, Pages, Numbers, GoodReader, PDF Reader, etc.
DRAWING TOOL • Doodle with your finger directly over web pages and text documents, create sketches and share them.

With all the rich performance features of Knowtilus Pro, you'll be enjoying smooth sailing with no eye strain while searching the web and doing work for business or personal use. There is a similar free version, but this paid version contains a more powerful multiview mode for browser Tabs, better Text to Speech tool (it reads longer texts) and other features. I have made great use of having web pages read to me in a very clear and accurate manner, and have already scanned several items with the built in QR scanner. The Reader function is a bonus (plain text with no ads or images is always welcome), along with the easy-to-use drawing tool. This all-inclusive productivity app is too good to pass up, and will definitely make your work hours on the web enjoyable and easier.

Need to get an Excel, Word or Power Point doc going while on the fly? Could mean the difference between a raise at your job or none, even perhaps gaining or losing a client! It's easy to create, edit or view the documents you need for these programs when you use CloudOn for iPad. This is a new app that lets you use the above applications easily, efficiently and just as simply as on your Mac or PC. The layout is almost identical and the files work well in the traditional format with which you are familiar. Some of the helpful iPad Microsoft Office features of this app are as follows:
- Use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint on your iPad to create or edit documents. - Rename, delete and manage documents with your Dropbox account - Display, edit or create charts, change formatting, spell check, insert comments, into any Word, Excel or PowerPoint files - Track changes while reviewing Word documents - Use pivot tables and insert formulas in Excel workbooks - Display and edit animation or transitions in PowerPoint presentations - Present in full PowerPoint mode (not in PDF) - Open files directly from your iPad email accounts or Dropbox account - Automatically save documents to avoid losing changes
On opening CloudOn, you are required to enter your DropBox account info or sign up for a new account as this app must use Dropbox to function. Files will be saved using your Dropbox account. The bonus is that your files are available whenever and wherever you need them.
I tried both creating and editing Word and Excel files. All the toolbars and functions I would use on my computer were available to me, and working with my docs was a cinch. There is a helpful demonstration prior to using the app on where to find the tools you need to get things working. Additionally, the Help center at cloudon.com fills in all the blanks should you have any questions. In reality, CloudOn is rich with features, simple to use and a real bonus to my work habits and flexibility in producing docs at any time.
COOL CONCLUSION: "CloudOn uses Microsoft Office functions to create, edit and view documents neatly and efficiently on your iPad."

Lingo of the Day: whittling - The name given to a revolutionary new medical technique which surgically alters a patient's thumbs to better use handheld devices. Case in point: A Colorado man (who is considered a big guy) had a hard time using the features on ever-shrinking user interfaces like his iPhone, that is until he "whittled" his thumbs down.
