The bottom line ;-) is that there's some really cool and unique tweaks you can perform with your photos and SomeCaps. First of all, you get to pick both background filter effects and word captions. If you have special words you'd like to use yourself, just tap the My Own Caption button. Some other ready-made caps categories you may like include: Social, Relationships, Drinking, Workplace, Party, Sarcasm and Pets. Now the special feature here is the Name+ button. With that button, just enter the name of your friend and a hilarious phrase will appear (some prefixed with a hashtag as a Twitter spoof). For example, Jenn became "#Jenn's alcoholism". Tyler became "Tyler please stay out of jail". You get the picture? (Pardon the pun!)

You can go through the list in each category by pressing the refresh button which will produce a new caption each time. No boring phrases or lack of imagination here. If you feel lucky, press the Random button to generate something extra special! All caps give you the option of a Mild or Vulgar saying which creates wording in one of those two categories!



Caps are displayed in white and may be placed wherever you want on your pic. I'd personally like to have a choice of a couple more colors for a bit of variety. Tap the font size button to resize your caption - it's that easy! When you've completed your romantic, quirky, crazy or humorous photo ensemble, share it on Facebook or Twitter, save to your Photo Library, Send by Email or Assign to Contact (a very handy feature I might add).

Photo filters (as well as other options) are limited in the free version, but when you upgrade to the PRO version for 99 cents, you get several more. As you tap each button to sample the appearance, your photo will immediately reflect the changes. A few more filters to complement the many captions would be a great asset to a pretty innovative app. Filters currently include Kindled, Overcast, Burnt, Achromatic, Daybreak, Aurora and Midnight. With all these cool effects, I'd say it's definitely time to shake up your photos with the flair and swashbuckling style of SomeCaps.

When was the last time you changed the wallpaper and lock screen on your device? I usually try to put a new snazzy pic on mine every weekend so that when Monday rolls around, I'm greeted with a fresh design for a brand new week! There are many beautiful wallpaper apps on the App Store, but here's one that has a unique take on backgrounds.

Monsters On Your Screen puts a little bit of intrigue on to your favorite wallpaper. This app comes with several backgrounds in addition to a collection of glowing monsters. You can either use one of the backgrounds provided, or else choose your own and add a monster to it as the finishing touch on your lock screen. ★Some of the features of this colorful glowing wallpaper iPhone app are as follows:

- 14 backgrounds to dress up your display
- 24 glowing monsters to include on your selected backdrop
- Several glowing neon colors to outline your monster
- Adjustable brightness of the glowing outline

Monsters On Your Screen is very simple to use. When you open it, you will see 5 buttons on the bottom of your display labeled: Base, Monster, Color, Glow and Save. Start off by selecting a background. You may either swipe through the choices given, or select one of your favorite pics by tapping the Import Photo icon on top right of the screen. Tap the Monster button and scroll to select a gruesome or adorable creature that will complement your background. Next, tap the Color button to choose your favorite glowing shade to outline the monster, and scroll for a variety of stunning neon shades. Continue on to the Glow button where you will adjust the strength of the monster's lighting effects, and then finally tap Save so your creation will be added to your photo album. Instructions are now given on how to access your new creation. 

Basically, you will just view your photo album to choose your new pic, tap Use as Wallpaper, Set, then Set as Lock Screen. That's all you have to do to accomplish a ghoulish, glowing monster as the guardian of your iPhone's secrets. My thoughts are that Monsters On Your Screen may be a great seasonal app with Halloween fast approaching. However, I know many kids may also like displaying monsters on their iPod Touch devices too! The glow adds a bit of a fire-breathing dragon effect to the whole background design itself. Enjoy swapping monsters on your lock screen depending on your mood, choosing from friendly to fierce glowing creatures!

In this adorable setting, Poko and his friends are playing in a sandset. You must click on the blocks to gather them, then pick their correct total from the choices displayed. Level 3 has a neat twist. Click on the matching toys on the playroom carpet, while learning to add, so the objects can be put away in the toy box!

What I like about this app is that when you answer incorrectly, there is no response or negative answer, but you get a hearty "Good Job" when you are correct! Kids will love to see their score increase in the blue box on top of the display. The beauty of iLearnWithPoko is the cleverly incorporated, self adjusting levels of difficulty. iLearnWith games are designed to adapt to your child's developmental needs not only in Math but across many other important academics too. A thoughtful feature is that your child does not need to read to be able to understand the game. Instructions are spoken and graphics make it it easy to understand. What a wonderful start to get your little one engrossed in the business of Math!

Almost 4 years ago, I reconnected with a friend from my past who asked if I used Facebook. I'm ashamed to say that at the time, my answer was "No, I've never tried it!" Still, I was anxious to see what it was all about, and I admit I owe finding my childhood friends and distant family to Facebook. I will be forever grateful for the chance to easily communicate with and swap life stories a couple decades later with those who meant so much to me. Well, in the course of 4 years you can imagine I made a lot of posts! I didn't even remember what I wrote about back then, or how I re-introduced myself to past friendships. Until now...with MyLine for iPad where the past has come alive again!

MyLine has such an appropriate name because it is the timeline of your journey through Facebook. You know how impossible it is to go backwards in Facebook trying to get to yesterday's posts, last week's updates much less those of a few years ago! MyLine brings back previous posts immediately for you to enjoy time and again. Looking for a special conversation or photo? Don't waste time trying to find them with regular Facebook apps. Just use MyLine to get your entire history at your fingertips. But it's not all about the past either. This app includes the social feed of the present, wall posts, photos, status updates, events, check-ins, and more, all organized neatly for an awesome viewing experience!

One great feature is that you can even comment on a wall post from a long time ago to discuss an old subject, with the wisdom of a couple years thrown in! Since MyLine has two individual modes to view and enjoy socializing, you will never have a dull moment. Some of the innovative features of this Facebook social networking iPad app are as follows:

Live in the Past:

But the most important feature to note is the MyLine box of 3 buttons at the top of your screen which is simultaneously loading all your updates from the past. Once done, your screen will show the years you have been using Facebook. When you tap the orange MyLine box it will take you through the present, but when you tap the left grey box next to it, you will be able to toggle through present and past. The grey button on the right allows you to Logout of Facebook if you wish.

My screen had little orange flags for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011. I tapped any of the stacks of pictures to load the updates from myself and friends, as well as photos from that time period. (A bigger font would be a welcome addition to all this well-compiled information). Basically, whatever features were available on Facebook way back then are what you will now see which is quite a difference from all the bells and whistles of 2011! In any event, there was my debut to the Facebook world with old friends chiming in that they were happy to see me. Yes, that really tickled my funny bone and warmed my heart!

The news of the day was quite intriguing including the election of President Obama, countdowns to vacation, old jobs, books read and you name it! If I sound enthusiastic, it's because I had quite an amazing adventure looking back at the past to see how much I and the world had changed! In fact, I like to call this app the MyLine time machine! Tap the top left corner of your screen to scroll through the years, or alternately tap the grey date box at the bottom of the screen.

Now remember, folks, that Facebook had fewer features in its beginning, so your older history may seem thin. This may happen also if you deleted photos or wall posts, of course. I didn't have any naughty items to erase, so I can pretty much view my Facebook past as it happened from day one, in all its glory! I can also claim that I've had quite a few bittersweet moments when I've viewed conversations from the past with those who were tightly woven into my life. If you use Facebook, MyLine is the perfect complement to it since every detail of your history is now available to you. You must try it!

Whether you share an apartment or dorm, have a family, or hang out with a bunch of friends on the weekends, there is always a time when you need to make a decision. In the dorm, it could be whose turn it is to clean the bathroom. A family member has many decisions such as unloading the dishwasher or mopping the floor, while friends get to decide where to go for dinner or to which club or movie.

That's just the tip of the iceberg though, isn't it! If you value your friendships and family relations, maybe you should try a simple solution to help make your decisions such as using Shake Up Your Mind! This app provides you with a cork board to which you attach friends' or family members' names so that when it is time to pick the task, just tap the list to randomly select one. Here are some of the fun and easy features of this social networking iPhone game app:

- Easy to add as many people by name as you like, with the option to add their twitter ID and a photo.

- Quick and simple to use system for adding new decisions or editing existing ones.

- Browse statistics on who is the most picked overall and per decision. Settle arguments before they begin!

- Tweet users when they have been chosen for a task, or send out a general tweet when a decision has been made.

- Post your unbiased decisions to Facebook.

When you open this convenient, decision-making app, your display will be a cork board with choices such as: Make a Decision, People List, Options and Post to Facebook. Along with those are scraps of paper tacked to the board so that it resembles a real chore board in your own home. Perhaps start off by either modifying the Make A Decision or People List. If you choose the first option, there are a couple already made task questions for you. However, it's simple to edit those or add your own big task by tapping Add Decision. Tap the Name box and the keyboard will pop up so you may type in your task. Once that's done, choose to Add Photo as an option, and then Save & Exit. Now you can tap your Decision and then Choose People to add a group of names from which to select later. You will enter their name, and perhaps their Twitter ID then save. You need at least 2 people from which to choose. Ideally though, the more the merrier!

I made up a Decision titled Who Cleans The Fridge? Then I added in 4 friends and tapped Confirm. I tapped Shake Up Your Mind at which point those 4 names were placed in the middle of the cork board. I had the option to either shake the phone or tap the names so that a question mark appeared, and then one friend was displayed as the task winner! At this point, I had the option to post the results to Twitter or Facebook.

Yes, it's that simple to work with a group of people, whether or not they are present, to let them know of the big decision of the day! Furthermore, should anyone think they are being picked on unfairly, use the Stats option to verify who has been the most picked person of all for any particular task. Now that's a definite plus in defusing any unpleasantness! Use this app for almost any group decision any time of day or night. I can certainly remember some warm and happy times spent around the table playing board games with my family when I was younger. The companionship and happy occasion was worth its weight in gold. With your iPad, you can enjoy all the glories of colorful, action-packed and fun-filled games like these. One really splendid game I came across recently was Fluke HD. It caught my eye with its intricate design and gorgeous interface. Plus it's what I call a "modern-classic" bearing resemblance to the popular games of childhood where you move your game-pieces through obstacles from start to finish. Yet this game carries a sophisticated, electronic flair.

Fluke HD will challenge you and whet your competitive spirit. The theme is quite simple though. Players are each given four colored tokens which they must successfully navigate across any one of the game’s 3 unique boards before their opponents in order to win. Note that you can only win if you are able to get all four of your game pieces across the finish line. Simple enough? Think again! There are many different interactive obstacles on each of the game’s boards! Play against friends or enjoy the convenience of opponents via the Game Center.

Fluke HD blends sharp, beautiful graphics with smooth gameplay (and throws in a bit of Fluke HD addiction too) to ensure your enjoyment! What I noticed most of all was the attention to detail and excellent graphics. Some of the features of this cool iPad board game app are as follows:

Start off by checking the Settings menu, selecting Sound FX, music and volume. Then decide how many friends will play, choose color tokens and enter their names. Now you're ready to play so tap the dice in the middle of the board. When you do, a number will magically appear. Tap the game piece you wish to move, and it will automatically move the number of spaces the dice has displayed. And so the game goes, with each player trying to out-race the other through obstacles and setbacks to get to the finish. When you land on the "?", who knows what surprise will await you? For example, you may be given instructions to remove a token, take 2 extra steps, advance or recede. Note that you may only add in another of your 4 game pieces when you roll a 6. There's so much to love about Fluke HD. It's fascinating how well a board game can function in an electronic version.

If you tap Identify Flowers, you may search your newly discovered flower by answering a pre-made list of one or more of 15 questions. If you wish to see all the glorious flowers that may bloom in the park, simply tap View All Species and then the name of the flower to see an illustration, photo, excellent description, as well as scientific name. Additionally, you can use a Ruler from your top scroll bar to measure the items you choose.

Tap on Tracks or Trees from the main menu, and these items also will break down in a similar fashion with detailed sub-menus. I found the Other Info tab on Tracks, Trees and Flowers to be very useful with Directions, fun Tree Facts, Scientific Names for your findings, Tree or Flower Morphology (which explains growth pattern) and a great Glossary. One item of special mention is the sub-category All Animal Sounds listed under Animal Tracks. Kids and adults will enjoy training their ears to hear the special sounds of animals in nature. Sequoia Tracks, Trees & Wildflowers would be an ideal app for teachers to utilize in the classroom or on a nature walk. The hands-on information found here is infinitely easier to use than carrying a heavy text or guide book, and convenient because of its structured organization. The information found in Sequoia Tracks, Trees & Wildflowers because of its numerous, terrific break-downs, is ever so much handier and detailed than a mere listing in an encyclopedia.
